I picked this piece up out of curiosity. Can anyone tell me if this is an authentic ancient coin or an old copy? Thanks. It measures about 26mm and weighs 8.94 g Report this Post to the Staff

In most Mediterranean Countries, it is illegal to export authentic coins without a license. So they sell copies to tourists for a cheap price instead - legally OK. If the price is cheap, everybody is happy. I probably would have bought a copy for $3 myself, as a memento of my visit. Slightly interesting. Most tourist copies are cast, and made in smaller batches. Report this Post to the Staff
