What do you think caused this? Lamination prior to striking? Struck through ?

What do you think it is worth?

Looking at the 9,7 and first star, and the area above the date and next to that star, along with the rim in that area, it looks to me like the coin was struck by an object.
My guess is post mint damage...
Wait and let some others chime in with their thoughts..

I'm thinking of possibly struck through cloth or some other soft material.

Could be a greaser or struck through, could be PMD. IMO too inconclusive to tell based on photos. I am leaning slightly towards PMD but you never know.

I will say it looks struck through with the divot between the two stars and the denticles below the 9 and 7 being mushy.

Hard to tell, the (tooling?) around it makes me think PMD
