Hi,

My computer ilterate friend has asked what I can find out about this coin. Unfortunately it has not been much. He believes it to have certain errors such as the date 1668 looks like the second 6 was a 5.
He wants to sell it but would like some advice. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I can't see any errors in that one. The second six looks normal - the shapes often vary slightly, but I can't see any underlying alternative number.
In ESC 4 variations are noted for 1668:
- Inverted partial collar. (Some of the lettering on the edge is the wrong way up - we would need a picture of the edge to see that.)
- No stop after MAG in the legend. (Stop is present on this example.)
- 8 over 7 in date
- 8 over 5 in date (I can't see either of those here.)

As to value - the obverse has some nasty recent scratches and 1668 is not one of the rarer dates, so I would expect this to sell 60 to 100 depending on how badly someone needed one.
