Petain was Chief of State in Nazi-occupied France - A German puppet from 1940 to 1944. After the war, he was tried and convicted for treason.

This medal was struck in bronze in 1941 and silver in several different diameters with slight differences in the exergue on the reverse.

I've seen bronze medals offered at between 85 euros and 150 euros.

Thank you for your precious reply. Yea I foumd several bronze ones close to it with diameters ranging in sizes from 20 grams up to 210 grams. I guess this one is most probably silver and it got a number 7, a turtle mark I guess with number 2, and a O.A.354 Mark which made me suspicious.
