Picked this up for around $30, which I'm happy with considering the grade and rarity. I'm thinking VG Details (scratched) for the grade. Could be G Details, but I think it just reaches VG. Should be valuable even with the scratches. My first really experience cherry-pick to add to the collection!

Oh yeah, that's it alright! Amazing pick! Nice doubled die all around and certainly not too easy to find. Congrats!

Thanks CH27! And thanks for sharing the pickup point with the ES of states a while back. Very helpful for low grade examples.

With "United" almost completely gone, I'd say G-04 at best.

You're probably right. I have a hard time grading still, but I'm getting better.

Please explain further why you think this is S1. Die markers, etc. Thanks!

I believe it to be S-1 because of the nose and eye doubling as well as the ES of states. It matches all points of doubling on a higher grade example of this variety. Although my coin is too worn to see the die gouge on the reverse, this is no doubt S-1. No normal coin would have the amount of strong doubling this die has.

Coinfrog, QH is correct in saying this is a snow-1. The nose doubling and the ES of states both match up and the eye doubling is still somewhat visible.

i would think it might make G-4 sharpness. Without seeing the doubling in the LIBERTY how much can the coin go for?

A straight grading example in G-4 is a
$90-$100 coin. Some can go for as much as $150+ depending on the buyer. Even damaged coins go for quite a bit. Here are some examples:

https://www.ebay.com/itm/1873-CL3-I...46890.l49292

The sellers accepted offers but based on the asking prices I can't see these going for less than $100 each.
