Queen Zauditu silver Essai Birr EE1917 (1924-1925), obverse of Gill-Z5 (similar), MS62 NGC, a most appealing pattern Birr (Talari) with the bust of Queen Zauditu by Dammann on the obverse and the fierce Lion of Judah on the reverse, design by Chaplain, denomination not effaced. ESSAI has been added on the obverse at 4 o'clock (not evident on Gill Z5). The surfaces are lightly toned with a mild scattering of small contact marks. One of the most intriguing and elusive of all world crowns. From The Formosa Collection.
