I was going through some stuff recently and opened up a 1992 specimen set to find that there were some odd markings on the silver dollar.

It looks like handwriting. Almost as if someone wrote on a paper with a marker using the coin as a supporting surface.

Has anyone else seen this before?

Interesting, I wonder if it was on the original bar before the blanks were punched and overtime the chemical residue reacted and became visible.

Maybe some kind of inventory marking.
