I have come across these 5 half pennies which only have 'tails'. Are these special or somehow just made for shove ha'penny? there is still a ridge around the edge.

to the CCF

The obverses have been removed intentionally, perhaps to make Magicians Coins.
They would be classed as damaged.

Shove'ha'penny needs the undersides of the coins ground down completely flat. I doubt these hollowed-out coins would slide on the board very well.

But yes, these coins have been lathed out, either for artistic purposes or to make a Magician's coin.
