I know it isn't the NY Times, but has this reporter even bothered to LOOK at a TN quarter prior to writing about it?

"The commemorative coin program began in 1997, when the United States Mint implemented it with the idea that each state coin be issued in the order that the state joined the Union. Other states have included such iconic images as Elvis, on Tennessee's coin and John Muir on California's."

So that's where Elvis is-on the TN quarter!

Yup. If you look real hard you can see that's really Jimmy Hoffa on the NJ quarter. He's taking the ferry over to meet Elvis in a Denny's on the Jersey Turnpike.

I've been a Sports Editor for 39 years, and in that time I can recall only once writing something that wasn't true. So, it's really not that tough to check things out and be accurate.

I, like Gary, have written for the media and made EVERY effort to get it right the first time! In this lawsuit world we live in it can be very costly getting it wrong!
Any idiot that thinks Elvis is on the Tennessee quarter would probably be interested in a little swamp land at a decent price. Of course there are those folks who would pay $10 for a Tennessee Statehood Quarter with an Elvis decal on it now isn't there? Pretty darn good business opportunities taking place with all those quarters. Someone is doing the same thing with NFL teams and making a killing on it, well, at least I assume they are as full page advertising is pretty costly and they keep doing it! Lots of money in decals and quarters! And, as they say, " A fool and his money are soon parted"!

Maybe Elvis is on one of the 1997 issues.

It is annoying when reporters make stupid mistakes like this, and it is all too common. One would think that it would be easy to check this out, so there is no excuse.

I do have it on good authority that Elvis is alive, and that he is living in a basement in Culver City, California, with Howard Hughes. Perhaps he modeled for this mysterious Tennessee quarter. Elvis sure does turn up in strange places.

That basement in Culver City is getting crowded since Natalee Holloway moved in.
Osama bin Laden has been complaining about her hanging her nylons in the bathroom.
