Hi all,

The obverse of this 1921 Strait Settlements is strange, it is flaky but it won't peel off. Weight is correct, I tested with N52 magnet and I have every reason to believe it is a genuine coin. But why is the surface so weird?

Best Regards

Possibly been varnished at one time and it has dried and cracked.
Try soaking it in acetone for 24 hours.
