This is a medal included in one of the lot I won on ebay, I believe is a memorabilia, from what I can make out of the words, it is 23rd National Encampment of G.A.R. August 28th, 1889, on the other side, Department of Michigan.
There's one on eBay that has similarity, but it has the different date and Cincinnati on the other side.
My question is what G.A.R. stand for?
