I don't know enough to comment on what happened to this coin.
Looking at the letters, the cracking may have been pretty strike.
What are you thoughts.

I would say a planchet flaw ... so yes pre-strike.

What would be an expected value on a error coin like this?
I only ask because I've been told numbers ranging from $200 to $800.
And as you may all know, everyone wants to be an Facebook expert.

The average Sold price on eBay lately is around $60. A flaw in a coin can either increase or decrease the value, depending on the buyer's needs. A collector of error coins may pay slightly more.

Errors like this need to be spectacular to be worth anything much.
This is just minor, so value-wise not that much extra unfortunately.
