JOE Valued Member United States 164 Posts	Posted 02/04/2009 01:06 am I found this coin while I was digging through a batch of mixed foriegn coins, At first I thought it may been scratched or had hair on it, Then I took my microscope out and noticed the crack was raised above the surface. It extends from the northern rim down to just above the crocodiles neck on the reverse, I also included a photo of the obverse. (I'm pretty excited since this my first discovery of a foriegn coin with an error, I wanted to ask also, How much would this coin with this type of error be worth? Sorry, I find things like this and the first thing I think of is dollar signs. , though it's probably not worth much of a premium.) Edited by JOE 02/04/2009 01:36 am Report this Post to the Staff

It also appears connected to a thin, raised edge on the rim. I don't know about Jamaica, but some countries have a strong collector base for die cracks--Australia in particular. russellhome Valued Member United States 83 Posts	Posted 02/05/2009 8:39 pm When I run into a nice thick crack like that (i.e. not a hair-line crack that can hardly be seen) I usually keep it. It may have a minimal 'premium' value to some people as a novelty item -- or -- no premium value at all. But I happen to like a good die crack, so I hang onto them. A crack like that on a Proof coin would have some premium value and would most likely be considered an error by most because it would not be deemed an acceptable flaw on a proof coin.
