1960 S$1, MS not PL
PCGS

The original images are very large, and compressing\resizing them down results in a lot of lost detail. I've done what I could in highlighting some of the more prominent marks and where they're located.

MS-63 only a guess. Toning tends to hide many things.

would be interesting to see this one in hand, sometimes the trueview images don't really show the "true" view of what it actually looks like in hand with those kind of colors and the magnification on this is quite extreme, so you can see any minor imperfection, I think when they grade the standard is 10x magnification.

The coin has some light chatter on the chin that isn't as easy to see in hand, but also is hidden by the toning..it is a gorgeous piece, I won't comment for or against the grade as I am the consignor.

The hair in the trueview isn't rare..this happens sometimes. The coin wasn't submitted with it and wasn't encapsulated with it..just unfortunate the photographer at PCGS missed it...to be expected with all their backlog these days unfortunately...

Since a CCF member is the consignor of this coin in an upcoming sale, I will make no further comment.

US TPGs bump up the grade for nice toning.

ICCS does not.

PCGS offers a Webcast series titled " Learn To Grade Coins." . It is well worth watching to learn their approach to grading MS coins. The webcast video on Toning and its effect on the final grade will clear up some misconceptions I see expressed far too often here.

You post a "You Versus PCGS" post, but then don't post the grade? If you won't, then I will. The answer is here:

This is a perfect example of one rule I adhere to in all of my coin buying.....(being a long time collector of ICCS coins)

Be very wary of toned Canadian coins in PCGS or NGC holders as they are quite often grossly overgraded (by ICCS standards and NOT overgraded by US TPG standards).

Is it just me or is there a hair running through the G and under the R in gratia in the TrueView pics? Funny that they would add the photos with a forign object in the picture...maybe it was slabbed with a famous hair?

I can't see this being higher then ms65 and personally would not grade this higher then ms64. Still a nice coin but I'm not one for toners
