Did anyone see this auction from a couple of weeks ago? A top pop, 1/1 1960 $1 MS68 went for $6,400+ usd. Is it appropriate to share the details if I don't own the coin? It's not really what I collect anyways, but it went for an extraordinary amount.

It is easily looked up on Google for all to see .
Someone obviously buying numbers .
Just laughable that PCGS says that is a 68 !
Any bets that would cross to a 68 ICCS !?

Yeah I tracked that one right to the end and was a little shocked at how high it went. I know being solo top pop that some registry collector was likely to grab it just because but I thought it would be more likely at 2/3 of that price or less. Some people have deep pockets! I agree that the coin sure doesn't look like a 68 and I would have also bet money that it was PL, not MS. Interestingly it hasn't shown up openly in anyone's registry yet. Ultimately I guess any coin is worth what someone will pay for it. I've definitely overpaid for coins myself from time to time so I probably shouldn't throw stones. :)

@Tripoli. ICCS have used 68 in the Past .
I had the solo finest 1956 Dollar which was graded
in the Early 1990s old two letter PL 68 before they put
cameo or heavy cameo on the holders .

Ive heard from someone here that a few Cornerstone coins were graded Sp-68 in old holders....

That 1956 PL dollar must have been special !
