sel_69l Bedrock of the Community Australia 20722 Posts	Posted 02/02/2023 02:41 am Opinions re the appearance of Charles on $5 Notes doesn't matter all that much. Inflation in the foreseeable future will ensure that $5 notes will be replaced with $5 coins. Lizzie never appeared on the higher valued Notes anyway. Report this Post to the Staff

In my opinion, issuing a $5 will only happen if there is a total re-design (metal composition, size, perhaps motifs) of the current coinage. Frankly, I do not see that happen in Australia. In contrast to New Zealand, that ship has sailed some time ago. The time frame for a re-design has past. These days, it would probably cost more to change the coinage than it would save. (Same situation as getting rid of the $1 banknote in the USA and replace it with $1 coins). But perhaps, I am wrong...regarding Australia.
