Hello all,

Opinions as to what I'm looking at here on The ear of this 1997 D Lincoln penny.

Its as if he has got a rounded ear? Comments please. Thank you.

Good question. It does look odd but my guess would be some type of underlying zinc issue.
A zinc bubble or blister that is presenting oddly.

A clear closeup might help.

The horizontal mark on the lobe is a hit. This coin does not look like a doubled ear to me.Coop has a nice graphic on doubled ears.
