Ibanezguru New Member United States 1 Posts	Posted 03/16/2023 07:22 am Hi everyone. I am new to coin collecting and new to this forum. I wasn't sure where to go for advice. My kids and I having been having a lot of fun sorting and collecting coins. I have found a few coins that look odd to me and I don't know if they were minted this way or altered afterwards. I just know they don't look like the 'typical' representation. The first is a 1999 quarter. It has these weird diagonal strips in it that goes through both sides. They seem uniform and at nearly a 45 degree tilt to the North/South of the coin. Could one of the machines at the mint have caused this? I also found a nickel with no date. These are common on Buffalo nickels but this one is fairly new. Is this just worn really weird in the date spot? Report this Post to the Staff

Perhaps someone else can add to this. Your nickel has what is called a Grease Filled Die on the date. In the future, please post one coin per thread. Also,best to remove coins from holders before taking photos whenever possible.
