I can't find any reference in the current Spinx catalog on Confederate notes, so I believe that's a fake.

The 5 & 20 notes are real.

yeah that was my thinking also. Thanks echizento. I am just curious as to why it has so much wear on the 1000 if it is a fake. I also think it is though

Be very weary of Confederate notes. I think there may be more fakes than real ones around now. Remember that the Union flooded the south with counterfeit currency during the war in order to undermine the economy.

Wouldn't the contemporary counterfeits created by the Union be worth something? Surely they are worth a lot more than the modern fakes?

That would make sense -- even the white Fivers from Operation Bernhard are worth a lot of money now.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Bernhard

**Basically German plan of undermining the British economy by having the people in concentration camps fake 5 pounds notes, which back then were uniface white notes.

***That look like this

Confederate-Notes

But then all British notes are recorded in book form in the BoE, so one time one of the tellers found 2 notes of the same number, and they slowly discovered the plan
