it has nice luster, may be how I have the lighting set up to reduce glare. But yes a 63 works for me.

Nice well struck coin ... I say likely MS.
But what is up with the spot on the obverse lower hair area? That looks distracting to my eye.

I was hoping someone would comment on that spot. It's an area where someone removed a spot from the surface and removed the toning as well.

The ding on the buffs shoulder and the spot below the feather bothers me a bit. Nice overall look though. John1  |

Spot on the obverse rim at 2:00 might be the start of verdigris, that and the carbon spots (and removed spot) on the obverse bother me but it's your coin.
Reverse looks really good with just a hint of weakness at the shoulder. I think it could straight grade as a 63. Overall a good coin.

Thanks for all your observations - I'll have a look at that verdigris and apply some magic solution on it to see what happens to it. this year, mint, and type coin is fairly expensive So when I saw it the seller was trying to get well over $400.00 for it, I offered $295.00 and explained all the issues you all mentioned and he took my offer. It 'was' in a PCGS holder with the only issue was the spot removed they called it Uncirculated - details. So I had no issues removing it from the slab. It went into my Dansco Album that I'm currently upgrading with the best possible grade coins I can afford. Over all it is a nice coin - I'll check on that possible RPM when I get home though (thanks for pointing that out. EDIT: now that the coin is out of the holder, I'm hoping that the 'spot removed' area will tone back out some and cover it better..(one can hope a bit, can't we?)  Edited by Dearborn

Now here is the holder it was in - you can easily see that spot on it, but I did some conservation on it it and treated it with verdi-gris and a long soak in acetone before taking the above images. The spot was greatly reduced from when I first got it.  |

Well not too sure on that. Maybe because I resize them to 600 pixels squared (on 1:1 aspect images) to keep the file size down. (saves space on my Hard drive too)
