Are there any distinguishing marking on the SMS set coins of the mid 60s? How would you tell if you had a SMS coin if you came across one in circulation?

In my opinion, it is very difficult. A lot depends on the die state when the coin was struck (the quality of SMS coins varied from MS to Proof) and what kind of wear it sustained during its time in the wild.
