Canada67 Valued Member Canada 321 Posts	Posted 01/14/2025 2:18 pm This is my first 1858 purchase, also a part of the collection I purchased last fall. Overall a well struck obverse and reverse in my opinion. However, I am curious to know what caused the lighter coloured areas on the obverse. They are the high points on the obverse, so I suppose they could be as a result of circulation wear. My other thought was possibly an attempted cleaning at some point in time, but the rest of the obverse obviously doesn't appear cleaned. I would also appreciate a grade opinion on this one. The Rev is great with just a little showing on the beads and a few maple leaves. It might make XF on a good day, but at least VF-30+. Report this Post to the Staff

Given the amount of detail remaining in the hair and wreath I would tend to go with a high VF or possibly XF, but I am no expert on Vickies. Thank you both for your responses.
