There was a superb run of PCGS XF40/45 CAC dollars in a Heritage sale yesterday evening. Liberty Seated CAC dollars always bring strong prices compared with similar graded non CAC coins. This sale was exceptional though. A few examples. The prices in parenthesis are the most recent sale price of non CAC PCGS dollars according to the PCGS auction archive.
1848 XF 45 $4320 ($1860)
1849 XF 45 $2220 ($840)
1854 XF 45 $21,000 ($10,800)
1861 XF 45 $11,700 ($3600)
1864 XF 45 $11,700 (1560)
There were two 1856 dollars in the sale
1856 PCGS 40 CAC $13,200
1856 PCGS 45 $4,500.
