Hi everyone I have come across these 2 old 20p coins ,one is 2008 and I think the other is 2017 but not 100% , they are very mishapen but the writing on the edges is the wrong way around the date and eliizabeth are at the bottom of the coin instead of the top ? Are they special or a bit of old junk ?

Thanks Paul

Can't seem to get a photo off them at under 300kb &

Hello and welcome.

The coins are "mis-shapen" due to damage, not a mint error.

As for the "writing on the edges is the wrong way around", this is normal for coins issued 2008-2015. Numista reference for comparison. They changed it when they changed the portraits from the IRB design to the JC design, and your coins definitely have the IRB portraits. So I suspect that while "2008" might be a correct reading for that coin, "2017" is the wrong reading for the second coin and it's actually something like 2012.

Now with the pictures up, it's just bad PMD. Just badly damaged. No errors. Both are worth face value.
