Hi everyone,
I've had a coin collection for more than 30 years. It's probably safe to say that I've been an accumulator more than a collector with a specific goal in mind. I do love spending time with my coins though and learning about them and about the hobby in general. I am from the US originally and have been in Canada for about 10 years.
I've spent a great deal of time over the years trying to record what I have, to learn about and make an attempt at grading, to learn about proper storage, and to learn about the history of the coins in general. I find it's a process that can consume as much time as I'm able to spend on it. I'm sure I'm not going to make much money with it but that has never been my goal anyway. I have gotten alot of enjoyment out of my collection and for me that's why I do it.
I've recently been learning more about mint errors and counterfeits. I've watched some youtube content offered by the
ANA. I also noticed that there is a forum called
Counterfeit Detection in this community which is helpful. However, it doesn't seem like one can post a new topic to that forum. At least I did not see a "New Topic" button. I've read some of the articles in the Coin Week Fun With Fakes series written by a Mr. Jack Young with much appreciation and I had some questions about some of the details and thought this forum might be a place to reach out to learn more.
Anyway, I'm happy to be a member and I look forward to exploring what is here and contributing if I can.
J
