anybody know anything about this coin? I was helping a neighbor with inherited coins and this one popped up.

It is, unfortunately, a replica of a silver "owl" tetradrachm from ancient Athens. Apart from exactly matching an example in the FORVM fakes database (https://www.forumancientcoins.com/fakes/displayimage.php?pid=11406), there are numerous other indicators that point towards it being fake.

Feel free to get it tested by a jeweller, but it probably isn't actually made of silver.

Thanks for that info. Was hoping to have better news for him but at least now he knows what he has. Might run it down to a place that has an xrf machine to see what metal it is.
