For me both are small

For me again, if I enderstand , it's the "pointed" line that it's important if it's before the bead it's small and if it's after is large.

It is right ?

thanks yves....you are right about the pointed line as I understand it also, but is there, in my images, a different bead size due to two different obverse dies?

you have to take the pictures under EXACT same conditions and camera-coin location. otherwise it will be distorted.
AND take the pix straight on not in an angle.

I think the first scan is the small bead and the second scan is the large bead. I am looking at the coins in my collection and the bead size is not that obvious. What I do see is that the large beads are much closer to the rim than the small beads. This also shows in your scan. The first one is the variety 1 and the second one is variety 4. Do you have both blunt varieties?

yes - both small beads.
I have noticed the beads do seem to vary in size from one small bead coin to another so the "A" is the best way to confirm.

Both SB type as already confirmed, but I've come across quite a few that can fool you on first
glance, like the second coin above.
