Hi Members,
I'm confused. What does "original reverse" mean on a 1927 British proof shilling? I see an NGC with this label.http://northeastnumismatics.com/pop...29_335466507 Mine says "modified reverse". I don't see any difference in the reverses in these proof coins. Is there something I'm missing? I know there were shillings minted with the original reverse use previously in 1927, but are there any proof examples of this? IS it a case of NGC mislabelling?
Help! Thanks.

Fair question. The first design finished issue in 1927, the same year that the second design was first issued. Both types for issue are equally common for that year.

All 1927 proofs had the second design of reverse. Both designs are similar in general appearance, and show a crowned lion surmounted on a crown. The second design was certainly not modified from the first design.

The notation by Northeastern coins, is, in my opinion, wrong. It is of the second design, as are all proofs of that year.

Thanks sel_691. I guess I won't have to track down a proof 1927 original reverse after all. Guess NE is wrong in labeling. Also just seen the same error then by NGC at HA.com http://coins.ha.com/common/view_ite...Lot_No=61164
Is says KM#833 PF65 Original Reverse. Seems a common mistake for the experts! Thanks again.
