Hi, Sorry for the heavily abbreviated title. I was wondering what the average number of George V and VI pennies people typically find in a box of pennies? I am interested in boxes from Canada with canadian pennies, not George pennies found in US rolls. Thank you in advance!

In penny boxes you should get a few, around (2-5) per box.

Picking up 4 boxes shortly from a friend in Canada. I'm torn if I should search them or just leave them as they are.

I usually get 10-15 pre 1959. And the occasional Wheat penny. In bank wrapped boxes.
I received $25 in hand rolled pennies from my bank the other day. She called me because they looked old. She was right. Almost 300 pre 1959 pennies. I was very happy.

I'd say I'd agree with everyone above. Coinchick, nice find! I'm still working at building relationships with those people to call me...no easy task. My last case I got 39, 40, 2x45, and a 46. One wheatie...but as mentioned sometimes I get more weaties then georges. I still haven't found any George V only VI's.

I've also never found a George V in a roll. I found my only George V in the cash drawer at work.

My stats through 13 boxes (32,500 coins) are:

53 George VI (Low 0, High 14, Average 4.1)
0 George V

I would estimate that I pull about the same number of wheaties as George VI.

my average is still 3 wheats and my georges finds are up to 4 a box. have found many from 1920 into the 50s. A lot of repeats though. Be happy to toss some your way for mid 20's. Just saying. Check out my muni want list in the buy and sell threads. But just wanted to update the average! CHEERS!
