No idea about errors, hoping someone can confirm if it's PMD or not and if it's worth posting on ebay or getting graded/certified.

I have had this 1926s Peace dollar error for awhile now and have called it "Struck on a flawed planchet" error.

It looks like a genuine struck through coin imo, even without an obverse image. If it were US coinage it would be worth posting on ebay, but Canadian and American errors are two different monsters, so I couldn't tell you for sure.

In case anyone else would like to see the obverse... Just out of curiosity if it was American what could it possibly fetch?

Have you weighed the coin? It almost looks like a big lamination... A picture of the obverse would help too...

SPP, thanks, I was hoping you'd weigh in(no pun intended). The obverse is above and I don't have a device for weighing. Do you recommend I get one now that I'm searching a lot of coins? If so what do you recommend? I'm sure you've explained this many times but, what is lamination?

SPP, I looked up lamination, and yes you could be right...I don't have enough experience to say either way.

Seeing the obverse design, it appears to be a recently issued coin. If it was a lamination, I would expect to see different colors in the layers of steel, copper, & nickel plating. It looks like a nice strike-through error to me. On the question of certification, there's not a huge demand for this type of error, especially in the lower denominations. I don't think the value of the error would warrant getting it certified. It's a keeper though! ~ JFK ~

After seeing the obverse, I think it is a strike-through. It could have been a defective planchet prior to the plating process, but the obverse details on the opposite side of the defect would also reflect that. As for scales, there are tons on ebay at any given time - try to get one that measures to two decimal places. This is the one I use: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Precise-100...271133182793

If anyone is interested I decided to post this on ebay. I also posted a 1998 Nickel with Die Crack and a 2006 Penny Magnetic no Logo and No P. Thanks for everyone's help on this.
