1856-P $1 Gold Coin Possible Error?

Redsoxx81 New Member United States 4 Posts	Posted 03/20/2018 2:45 pm This is an 1856-P $1 Gold Indian Princess with possible error. It appears to be uncirculated. On the reverse the "O" in "Dollar" is missing. There is no wearing around the O itself and I would find it hard to believe only the O is worn. I don't know what else to think. It is the slanted 5 variety but I have never heard of a missing "O". Any opinions please. Report this Post to the Staff

moxking Rest in Peace United States 17900 Posts	Posted 03/20/2018 6:25 pm Loss of definition of the center design elements, particularly on all 1850's issues, is common. This is NOT a good thing. While it might be considered a minor error those who collect this series prefer complete strong strikes. More times than not classic coinage with minor strike problems reduces value, rather than enhancing value. Report this Post to the Staff
