...checking up on the CCF postings pertaining to "Resplandores" I note that we do not have a generic "show and tell" post regarding these coins.

So I thought I would start one

Here is the 1897 Mexico City Resplandores 8 Reale coin I bought from a reputable dealer yesterday. It appears to be in near uncirculated condition with shining faces and only a few nicks and some (sulphur?) staining on the top obverse side.
I have shown a pair of images with the coin under diffuse illumination and a pair with the faces of the coin reflecting the light like a mirror.
I have also shown the edges, in quarters starting from the top reverse and moving counterclockwise.

I have already started to research this.
Width is 38.5mm
Weight is 27.15gr
The Specific Gravity appears to be 10.31
(weight in water when suspended with dental floss = 2.64gr, this implies that SG = 10.28. However I have found a negative bias of 0.03 SG when using this method. It appears that the dental floss used to suspend the coin does contribute to SG calculations).

I note that the text on the coin appears to be a little "flat" in relief.
