All,

Some advice please. I know that, other than mint errors and a few other exceptions, it is not financially practical to get modern coins graded if they are MS-61 to MS-64/5. Just looking at the PCGS nominal prices online, most of them fall into the $4 to $12 (each).

Before I take a few hundred dollars of mid-1970s to early 2000s quarters/dimes/nickels/pennies (MS-61-MS-65 (IMHO)) to the bank, I wanted to ask if there might be any market for these coins if sold in groups/batches (e.g., 25 FDR dimes from 1980 to 2000 for $50)?

Thanks.

Bill

You can always put them on ebay, that is a start.

Thanks! I thought I'd ask before I went back through the coins to see if it was worth it. I'll try a batch and see.

Appreciate it.

As you are not talking about silver coins where some precious metal buyers might be enticed by generic bags of coins, I would create meaningful sets of the coins before listing on ebay.

Sets such as: a complete date run from X to Y of a single denomination or a group of Denver Mint coins across a date range or year sets with one of each denomination (P and D) for a given year, etc. Common coins need to be organized into sets to draw attention, otherwise they are just bags of pocket change.

Just my opinion, your mileage may vary.

Collecting silver coins always provides a fall back that supply/demand can't override.
Kennedy silver is a nice compromise. PR69 are affordable and have both melt and Numismatic value.

It's a good time for selling silver coins especially - prices on many coins are up c.25% since Jan 1 2021. It seems that other coins are riding silver's coattails.

I hit a number of auctions each week from various parts of the country and prices seem to be considerably higher than ebay. If you have a way to consign to an auction with terms better than ebay that might work in your favor, if you find someone trustworthy enough. Some houses require a minimum value to your collection to sell through them.

Stay well,
