Hello coin collectors. I've been searching through bags of P and D Bessie Coleman coins and finding all the known errors like Cud on Washington's nose, Reverse of doubling on Bessie's lips and nose, Cud on the plane, doubling on FC, but this one coin has me fixated and wasting alot of time. I have one Bessie that has stripes from end to end that are not raised. Maybe they are lamination, but I don't know what type of error it is and if I should give er back to the bank or keep?

The second error is that I received in my uncirculated bag a foreign piece that may or may not be part of the minting process? Not sure and why I'm reaching out to you. I put a penny in with the item in my photo for size comparison. It's a metal back with some sort of a foam ish surface. And of course my eyes are looing for things to figure out what it is, but I swear I see the Lincoln Penny figure indentation. Then again, maybe it's just something from the sorter. Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks so much

My first guess would be fingerprint but it's clearly too large for that. I think I've seen some similar stripes on other coins, but I forgot which; it could plausibly be something involving planchet rinsing, or (less likely) some kind of alloy mixture issue. I defer to more experienced numismatists for more specific possibilities.

Sure does look like that... but I don't think it could be incuse while facing the right way. A more detailed photo would help; I can hardly see anything on those pics.

Thanks John. Die Chips right? Die Chips on the plane and on Washington's nose.

I'm attaching a few more pictures from my phone. Tried to scan in a bit.

Marks on Quarter Reverse are similar to the Big Foot Fingerprint coin posted earlier this week.
Makes me wonder if it's actually Big Foot now...

A fingerprint and possibly that piece of metal might have been used to make a Magicians coin?

The parallel lines are most likely roller lines like we see on Lincoln cents.

The other odd item most like has something to do with the production facility at the mint or sorting facility.
The darker circle inside the lighter metal looks slightly off center and raised.
Maybe the darker metal was a "dowel" that extended from the disc and connected this smaller piece to a larger piece of equipment.
Words of encouragement are one of the major food groups.
We need to consume them regularly to thrive and grow.
