was there some thing about the two dots : in between the letters ... A : B ....of GRA : BRITT that makes it sort after and the water levle on the seated queen ? plus the spear touching the rim ? some info would set right ...i hope      *** Moved by Staff moved to a more appropriate forum. ***

You are right that the features you picked out can be identifiers for varieties, some of them very rare, but for the two coins you have shown the examples are standard and fairly common. Identifying GB Penny varieties is a huge topic. Your best bet is to go to this website: https://headsntails14.wordpress.com...i-varieties/ where you can see all the recognised varieties and how to tell them apart.

No problem - glad you appreciate it. It was created by a chap called Richard - Secret Santa on another forum, and is far and away the best reference for GB pennies. There are also other sites he has created - one for Halfpennies, and another keeping track of the numbers of the rarest pennies identified, complete with photos of each example. There used to be a good site from a different author on Farthings, but that seems to have fallen into disrepair and not all the pages work anymore.

@ paddy a few of my Pennies take pride of place on Richards site. Nice to have a few of the real scarce ones. Freeman 21 and freeman 24 and a 1931 Missing waves
