I have a 1776 Continental currency which I think is pewter. I don't know which forum to ask advice as to authenticity. I can post pictures if I knew where to start.

I am sorry to say but your Continental Dollar is almost certainly fake as there are many many more copies than genuine coins, it is a heavily reproduced coin sold at many tourist sites related to the Revolutionary War. You can look here for the photo posting tutorial or you can use a photo hosting site like Flickr or Photobucket.
