Is This An FS-502? Or Is It A Machine-Doubled Mint Mark With No Added Value?

Thank you for your assistance. In the reference photos for the FS-502 (FS-902), there appears to be a "branch" or spur extending from the top of the mint mark; however, even when examining my quarter under a magnifying glass, I cannot see that feature. While the shape of the mint mark is similar, does the absence of this branch mean it does not qualify as an FS-502? Or is it simply a case of " Machine Doubling" on the mint mark, which holds no added value? I would appreciate your opinion on this matter. Thank you.

You are correct, it has to have the "branch" to be FS-502 because that "branch" is the repunched mintmark. It's a stray punch of the mintmark too far northeast.

Your coin only has Machine Doubling on the mintmark.

I agree with Tanner. My first thought was Machine Doubling.

to CCF.

yes, this looks like MD

So in your title and text, you reference FS-502, but in the image you show an FS-902 where did you get your attribution from? and is your coin dated 1964? (I would like to add the date and Mint to the title as well.
