I've never owned a silver 8 Reales "pieces of eight coin." Just got this one on
ebay, NGC genuine struck in Mexico City. Shipwreck coins are interesting. The El Cazador sailed from Mexico, sank about 50 miles south of New Orleans in 1784. It was found by fishermen in 1993. Something like 400K coins were recovered. Most have varying degrees of saltwater damge. Some were fused and sold in clumps. Mine is decent without significant saltwater damage. The 8 Reales were used in Colonial America. Sorry, my phone pics aren't very clear.
Years ago I went to a traveling exhibit of the Atocha coins/artifacts. They had some coins for sale, wish I had bought one back then because they are pretty expensive now.
