1935 Buffalo Nickel, Is This Flatness From Die Wear, Thin Planchet, Weak Strike?

Now that I look at Buffalo nickels more often, I see this phenomenon occasionally. The center of the coin has a flatness to the features, usually on both sides. I suspect that die wear is the culprit. Maybe someone can spell out for me the visual differences between central die wear, thin planchets, and weak strikes on Buffalo nickels?

That is die wear and it is not an AU grade.
A thin planchet would show weakness on the whole coin.
A weak strike would be stronger in the middle and weaker
towards the edge including the rim.
