And if the ensuing craziness of 50:per cent tariffs on Canada are imposed on August 19th
many more will not be shipping to the States .
Coins and bullion on the list , what stupid stuff we are living through these days !

Package from Switzerland arrived today via FedEx.
No tariff charged. There is not even a declaration on the package ... very strange.
But welcomed.

I was thinking of a buying a banknote from a Canadian seller. You think I should suggest just sticking it in a postcard envelope?

No not a good idea . Current tariff on a Canada note under 100 years old due to SEC 338
Tariffs is 50 per cent .
No Canadian seller in their right mind is going to try and duck these current rules by playing
games with US customs . She's open economic warfare as of Saturday !

Who in their right mind is going to pay 50% tariff on a note. Might as well drive to Canada and go shopping.
I am actually considering going to the Nuphilex convention in Montreal. Have you been? What is it like?

Maybe the better question what country in their right mind
charges 50 per cent tariffs ? Also the 50 per cent applies to numismatic coins unless they are at least 250 years old ( oh the irony!) according to both our third party shipper and my contact at US customs !
@numised I would be real careful travelling to Canada under
the current situation between our countries. The natives are

By the way Nuphilex is a good Canadian show
and Montreal is a wonderful city . Multi cultural
for sure .
I have purchased some wonderful stuff there.
I will put a good word in for you when you end up in
lock up . My wife's nephew is a Montreal police detective.

First thought: Uh-oh  But Page 1 just confirmed the earlier good news that no tariff was due:  What followed was 9 more pages(!) of documentation to justify why I owed nothing: - the DHS Entry Summary form filled out by Fed Ex (lower left) describing the merchandise as "Numismatic Items of an Age Exceeding 250 yrs" - an attestation from the seller (lower right) that pursuant to HTSUS Chapter 99, Subchapter III, Note 52(b) this merchandise quaified for duty-free treatment - an attestation from the seller (upper right) that any Italian material (all 6 coins were Italian) either has an export license, or was already utside Italy as of January 2011.  Any wonder that fees are increasing? (Thanks to mods for catching my mistake  ) Edited by tdziemia
