Chris Dearn New Member United Kingdom 1 Posts	Posted 01/08/2010 10:56 am Hi, I am currently a Sixth Form student study chemistry at A level. At the moment I am undergoing a chemistry investigation looking at the copper content of one pence pieces. In a current British (2008 - 2010) one pence piece, what is the core of a penny made from? I understand that the coin is copper-plated steel. Does this mean the core is steel or is it like the American cent with a zinc core? There is very limited information about a British one pence piece on the internet, so any information on this matter would be appriciated. I have said this is important as I may have to change my chemistry investiagion which at the moment is 30 - 40 pages. Kind Regards Chris Dearn Report this Post to the Staff
