Found this pre-decimal UK coin, by the size I can tell that it is a half-penny. Is it a mule or a token of some sort? Image of front and back and next to a half-penny for comparison.

It is damage. The reverse has been removed after it left the mint.
You can't have a coin with the rim only on one side.
Weigh it and you will notice it is lighter.

It could have been used in a pub in the game of 'shove ha'penny' - the coins were pushed along a wooden board and the side in contact with the board - usually the reverse - could eventually get worn flat.
