NumisRob's November Giveaway - Win a 1990s Bank of England Five Pound Note!

Part of my job as a tour guide involves changing obsolete notes when customers try to spend them in shops. If it's a large sum of money, I usually accompany the clients to the bank. For a single note I normally just exchange it with one from my wallet. Most of the notes are from the final BOE paper issues - £5 notes with Elizabeth Fry and £10 notes with Charles Darwin, and they're usually too creased and dirty to be worth more than face value. I just take them to the bank, and I know they will get sent to the Bank of England and destroyed.
The other day I got this note, and I thought it would be a pity for it to be destroyed, as surely someone would like it in their collection. It's from the previous series, issued in 1990-2, with the signature of chief cashier Kentfield. The reverse shows railway pioneer George Stephenson, with his famous steam locomotive the 'Rocket' in the foreground. Behind is a view of the Stockton - Darlington Railway, opened in 1825, which many people consider to be the first modern railway line. It linked two major towns, had passenger and freight trains, stations, a timetable and used steam locomotives. Previous railroads had been short lines usually linking a mill or mine to a port or canal wharf. The line was an instant success and caught the builders by surprise as they expected it to be used mainly for freight, and only supplied one passenger car! They had to install benches in coal waggons to accommodate the huge number of passengers! The line remains open today as part of the UK's rail network, and, although the route has been modernised and some kinks straightened out, trains still cross the original bridge shown on the note!
So this banknote might interest a railway buff or history fan!
To win it, here's what you have to do...
GUESS THE DATE OF THE HALLOWEEN PENNY!!!
On October 31, I went shopping, tendered a £1 coin for a 99p candy bar and got a penny in change. What was the date of it?
It was a normal British decimal penny. It wasn't an NIFC coin and wasn't from any of the offshore territories.
You can see my survey of British pennies here, to see which dates can be found in circulation!
