Thanks mackwork. I turned this one down from a local dealer that partners with a big nationwide dealer and took my chances on ebay. Glad I did.

Quote: When things are that rare a dug coin is quite acceptable IMHO Bill, CONGRATS!! You now own 25-50% of the known tokens said to exist for that merchant. Doesn't get much better than that That's just awesome!

Just wanted thank all of you who read and post in this thread often. This thread turned 2 years old a couple days ago, and I don't think it has ever left the 1st page of this part of the forum! I love seeing everyone's new tokens, and tons of information here! Keep 'em coming!

Sweet! Love the die clash on the reverse. Adds to the character of the token. Congrats!

Found myself in Lansing, MI yesterday and stopped by Liberty Coins there. While I don't specifically collect Patriotic CWT's this one was just too nice and too cheap to resist.

I can imagine. It's 70 & sunny here :-) Well, went to the Collect-O-Rama show in Lakeland today. Paul Cunningham was there and ended up getting a UNC Great Central Fair copper CWT. I ended up passing on a UNC DIX Shoot Him on the Spot token and also a (what he labeled as UNC) Industry / Bee Hive token. Still not sure why, other than I guess I didn't want to spend the money . I saw a few more CWTs at other dealers, however I did see one that almost brought a tear to my eye. One dealer had what I believe to be an MS-64 Straight's Elephantine Boot CWT - about 25% red w/ really nice toning & cartwheel luster on both sides for only $85.00. I couldn't figure out why such a nice token was selling for what I considered to be a really good price. Then I figured it out... Unfortunately, there was a small punch mark directly above the elephant in the text. The punch didn't go all the way through, but was probably about 1/2 way through. . So close... yet so far . Oh well...

Sounds like a fun day Dave. I sure would have been tempted by that Straight's Elephantine token. LOL

It's in the mail. I've been heming and hawing about this token for a while and finally decided that I needed it in my collection of Jackson County tokens. The subject, Wm. Jackson, Grocer, issued 23 different varieties of which 16 are rarity 8 or higher so I wasn't sure I'd get another chance for this variety.

Bill, Congrats! . It is simply awesome. Oh, and I was tempted to get the Straight's token... but a level head prevailed... I think
