I assume you're talking about the Tuvalu 2006 Red-Black Spider. Only a handful of modern coins will ever have that kind of cachet. Although the mintage is similar and both are series firsts, it's just not likely that the Welsh Dragon will get to even half the value of the 2006 Spider. But there is no way to know if your coin will rise or fall in value either in the short or long term. It does help that the coin sold out in only a few days, which means it's at least highly sought after right now. Dragons are hot at the moment. It's possible that it might take another 12 years before we see another bull run on dragons
Wow that spider is pretty wicked looking! Sure mintages and series firsts have some part to play, but that design is pretty awesome - you just want to own the coin. I guess if enough people want to own it, the price shoots up. Same goes with the Mongolian coins, those designs are just amazing. Before knowing anything about them, looking at poboxw's collection the owl stood out amongst a sea of other 1oz'ers.
I like the Welsh dragon and the theme of that set, but it doesn't give me the same "must own" sense as those other coins. If it could get to half the value of the spider ($600?) that would be incredible to me. But hey I'm new to this.
