Here's the note I hinted at yesterday. The First NB of Chase City, Va.

Here's a snippet from the most recent Heritage auction of another from this bank in 2015. Should give a sense at how scarce this note is.

"While large notes from this one bank community are often available, Series 1929 examples are another matter entirely, with the census showing just three such notes, one of which is graded as "Poor." This note is new to that listing, raising the census to four, none of which has been available at public sale, according to Track & Price, for over twenty-five years."

This note will take the census up to 5.

The Charlottesville note is not as impressive, but I needed a $20 on the bank, so I snagged it as well.

Wheat - I saw a Chase City note somewhere recently but I don't think it was this one, and it certainly was not on Heritage. Would you PM me with details on where you found it? I'll try to track the other one down.

Coinfrog: Perhaps it was the Chase National Bank of NY? Those are often seen have many titles with the name 'Chase' in them. I bought this note privately, but I suppose it's a chance another one is floating about somewhere.

No, it was Chase City, VA for sure - I thought of you immediately when I saw it. Definitely an internet auction.

If you remember where, I'd be curious to see it.

I also just picked up this serial #2 note. It's rough, but could be a restoration candidate.

I'd get that SN #2 note in a TPG holder before it split in half.

Memory says the Chase City was a large note, not the scarcer small one. I'll run it down.

This DB looks interesting with that low SN.

Confrog: Yes, that one has been on ebay for quite a while. They want too much for it.
