Added this $1 Georgia note today. I can't believe how expensive these old broken bank notes have gotten.

Indian Gold Eagle....I know what you mean. Good deals are few and far between. Being from NC I mainly collect the obsolete North Carolina banknotes. I can't believe how thin these are. I have bought some that I am afraid to take out of the holder due the notes being so thin. I compare them to a piece of single ply tissue paper. It is a wonder how so many have survived the test of time.

Just bought a $5 1860 Georgia note and an 1859 $5 North Carolina note. I'm going to go broke chasing all these old American Banknote Company Issues. They sure are nice looking though. Connor, I agree with you, some of the paper used for these notes was terrible and I'm very surprised those that circulated actually survived as well as they have.

I don't usually save bills for their serial numbers, but this one caught my eye. Unfortunately it's had its fair share of circulation, oh well.

Indian Golden Eagle - Love your obsoletes - I've been wanting that Georgia $1 for a while - it's evading me in condition, price, etc. Thought I found one a couple weeks ago, but it had one flaw I couldn't live with, so on goes the search. Something about that vignette, I guess. Anyhow, here's one of my newest ones. I have another I hope to post this weekend. Time has been a rare commodity lately. This one is from 1817 and shows Andrew Jackson during the war of 1812 at the Battle of New Orleans. I have a write-up on my website if anyone is interested: http://www.banknoteden.com/USA_Misc_Currency.html fourth one down.

Dave L, great Ohio note. I just looked at your web site, very nice. That Georgia $1 is pricey in nice shape, this one, VF, cost me $100 and I was tickled to get it for that price. I've seen them much higher.

I was dumping today and the teller grabbed a strap of new $100's. I could see in her drawer the bottom of an old $100. I asked her if I could have the old bill instead. Turns out the whole strap was $1000 worth of old $50's and $100's. Stopped at the next bank and the teller had to get cash from the vault. At the bottom of the strap was another old bill. It was an older $50 and the only on in the stack. Not worth anything but nice to see some older bills once in a while.
