I also like raw coins. I just think they don't feel the same. slabbed coin doesn't feel real to me, cant touch it or weight it. I don't know I just like them raw

Raw all the way.
But If I ever get around to buying some of the keys that are stopping me from finishing sets,
I'll regretfully be buying slabs, I suppose.

I like slabs. I think as a younger collector I was never in a world without seeing slabs. The real reason I like them like V said is that most coins I have that are in slabs are key dates or high value coins. 80% of my collection is raw but the ones in plastic I can be assured even if a tornado takes up my coins there is a chance I will find the slabs intact and unharmed.....now to put GPS on my slabs

I like raw so I can display as I wish. I've only bought 1 slab (1931S LWC XF45) and broke it out immediately.

Raw, for the win.

I have never bought a slabbed coin, which is one reason why I have not made my key date purchases (my choices have been few and risky). I hope to continue my raw purchase tradition, but I know how unlikely that might be. If and when I eventually have to buy a slabbed coin, rest assured it will be cracked out almost immediately.

I have them both, raw and slabbed. Key Dates are slabbed, I believe they will be easier to sell when that day comes. I do agree with all the "raw" collectors, nothing like holding a coin in your hands. I love em both!

Me, sell a coin? Never.

For those who do worry about such things, I cannot argue against the slab. The market is what it is.

I also like them both, and both can fit in my album. Get the "Slab holder" pages, and they'll go in the front. My raw in the back. I prefer the raw look in pages though!

Ok, I understand there are a lot of folks that just love slabs. To know with out, well, MUCH of a doubt that what they have is real, the grade is set, value can be ascribed to a pretty good degree that the coin is what it is. I,however, am of the opposite side on this, ah, debate shall we say. There is something about a raw coin, in it's natural state that has charm, has allure to it. To hold something going back in time to the depression to the birth of America and beyond is something that cannot be put into words, or should I say words do it no justice. Just by holding the coin I am part of it's history. This is something that just does not come from holding a piece of plastic.
Now, I truly understand why slabs can be appealing, I can and I am not knocking those that believe in slabs. I just thought I might offer something from the raw side. So, I ask, how many prefer their coin collecting raw?

You have my full attention.
I hate slabbed or carded coins
