That first picture looks like a notorious ebay seller who doctors the photo more than the coin. Like has been mentioned, I'd imagine their other cents for sale have similar toned photographs. Nice buy on the one you did get!

If you are serious about collecting, you need to establish a relationship with this dealer. Get to know them by first name. Visit frequently and buy something (even small) everytime you come in. You'd be very surprized how well regular customers are treated at any coin shop worth it's salt. Also, bring in a copy of the lastest CDN sheets with you and use that as a guide when they quote you a price. They will know you're savy buyer and serious collector. I've NEVER seen a dealer complain that I had the same price list that he is using. Just keep in mind, most B&M dealers will quote above CDN....which is perfectly acceptable, they have to pay the bills to operate. For me, it's worth it to pay extra to be able to see and hold coins. This is ESPECIALLY IMPORTANT for key dates like this....you just learned a cheap lesson...it's a good thing you backed off the other one.

He writes..... Verbatim: hi again--you know it is your call--i guess it depends on your beliefs--i used to be a "purist" when it comes to coins but have changed my mind instead of fighting it-so has pcgs in that now they slab coins that are cleaned although they are still behind the times--and believe it or not pcgs (or more accurately the founders of pcgs and ngc and other active coin dealers) are the ones cleaning coins, and they make no excuse for it as long as they do a good job-i can send you reference to prove this in their own words-it is really an arbritary thing and coins are cheaper so if it does't matter to you--so it is your call--if you send me your paypal invoice id I will send you an invoice for $150.00 including shipping (no ebay)-same guarantees, same return privilage-we are now at my cost so I cannot do better-I'm not "officially" a dealer--i collect, I buy, I sell, and I do this more for fun than money-you won't get a better price--again, your call-jamie
