Canacoins, if a coin could tell stories I'm sure that one would have a few. :)

A purchase I received as a gift for Christmas. This is my first Canadian dollar. Very beautiful coin.

1971 British Columbia Commem Reverse
I am not sure I captured it well, but the toning is only on the obverse and is a subtle orange.

scopru, dipping a toe into the Canadian dollar pool, just may open the flood gates, if you like them that much. Now I gotta work on getting you into the loonies.. Glad you like it, but I don't think you got a good shot of the toning you speak of. I can't photograph toning very well either.

yes, the 1971, 1972, 1973 canada dollars, can get some very crazy toning colors on the obverse, as they were sold in cases, without capsules..The best way to get the toning to show true, is good lighting, and having the coin tilted.

I may try to get my youngest daughter to take a photo. The fact I need a lot of practice is clearly apparent. I will see if she is up to the challenge silverwolf.

And loonie I certainly see the attraction to these coins. MY oldest daughter picked this up for me on her first visit to a coin store (along with some others items) and thought I would like it. I am glad I have not finalized my 2019 goals as I may adjust them based on this coin.

This obverse might be better to show the toning.

I never collected George 5 cent nickles. But saw this one at a shop today and just liked it. I am surprised that the rim on this one is so thin and raised up so high above the field.

Do most of these have similar rims?

I would think such a rim would quickly have nicks or be worn down.

John K. you have one really nice coin there. Very seldom does one see George V nickels this nice...I'd venture to say you have a EF-40.
